I have never had any symptoms and was diagnosed by blood test because I wanted to prove to my new love that I was 'clean', Three years ago, I was in a relationship with a gent that tested positive for Herpes 2, so I'm sure that's where I contracted it. Prior to that my tests were all negative.

If you have an outbreak, usually a week, but you can have it and have no symptoms. You should get tested, but it will have to be an antibody blood test.

Usually men have an outbreak within 2 weeks. Women will as well, but in the beginning mine were so mild that I thought I was scratching myself on accident with acrylic nails, so it is less common for women to realize it as quickly

There is no specific time frame. I had not been sexually active for about 2 months before I had my first outbreak, however, some people experience a break out only a few days after the encounter. To be safe, you should get tested right away.
